    If I heard you right you have a fixed retainer, and that includes the website as well. Also, do you have a min contract term?

      Hey Faraz,

      Correct. We have a fixed retainer that includes SEO/PPC management and maintaining the client’s website. We do not have minimum contract terms. We are month-to-month and clients can choose when they want to leave. Something that makes this possible is by doing pre-pay billing. So clients pay the month before we perform the services. So I tell them all the time that if they want to stop services, all they have to do is not pay the next invoice.

      This protects us from chasing money for work we performed. It also forces us to make sure we’re constantly delivering adequate value month over month. If we locked clients into a minimum contract term, we have more incentive to procrastinate good results until near contract renewal.

      Schieler mentioned that the new website setup is also included in the retainer. is that right? You guys include just maintenance? Or did I get it wrong?

      Thank you for taking the time to respond in detail. I really enjoyed the podcast, it made me think about simplifying my offerings as well.

      Hey Faraz,

      Correct, we charge separately for site builds.

      I have a mentor who situationally gives site builds for free if the marketing account looks particularly advantageous.

      I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to do it. It’s clearly working for Schieler. As long as you’re confident that what you’re doing works financially.
